How do you design truly sustainable products and systems? Mother Nature has put in billions of years of product development, learn how to apply biomimicry principles to gleam inspiration from nature to solve problems and drive sustainability in your organization!

Applying biomimicry to product and system development will help you create truly sustainable solutions. This talk will give you an introduction to biomimicry principles, including an overview of biomimicry concepts and process, examples of biomimicry in action, and the impact biomimicry can have on your organization. This session will serve as an introduction to a three-month program where we will be applying biomimicry to solve a problem in Jacksonville! So, come to learn about biomimicry AND come with ideas of problems you’d like to see us tackle in our city!

Bio: Jessica Tittl is an experienced and passionate chemist and microbiologist, dedicated to the development of breakthrough technologies and solutions to move the needle in human and environmental health. She has over six years of product development and patent law experience, applying biomimicry and future forecasting to the development and protection of new technology. She has a bachelors from Wittenberg University in biology and a post-baccalaureate from the University of Cincinnati in cosmetic science. Jessica currently works as a biological scientist in the Soil and Water Sciences department at the University of Florida, where she researches coral disease. Jessica owns a consulting firm, BiomeFuture, that helps companies apply biomimicry and future forecasting principles to new technology and system design. She is also the founder and Executive Director of a nonprofit called Discoverbiome, dedicated to educating the public on climate science and sustainability. Jessica is currently residing in Gainesville, where she is building a tiny house on a sustainable farm!
